Safety - Threat Management Program
Across the country situations occur which involve threatening situations or unfortunately, the escalation of these type of situations into violence. Striving to be proactive, the University Police and Dr. Mario Scalora, Ph.D. from the University's Psychology Department have been involved in developing a threat management program.
The program components consist of conducting threat assessments of situations, which may be internal and external to the University, in order to assess the liklihood of excalated violence, as well as identifying measures that can be taken to mitigate this potential.
Grant funding has been received to conduct other components, which include conducting security assessments of selected facilities with the intent to provide the safest campus environment possible, and using a geographic information systems (GIS) to provide spatial information regarding crime occurances, and emergency management planning and facility management.
