Residence Hall Security
A Community Service Officer is on duty in residence halls during the night time hour. Students present computerized ID cards for entry to desk clerks. Guests to the residence halls surrender ID cards or driver's licenses to the the desk workers. Each guest is signed in, then escorted by the resident being visited, who also surrenders his or her ID card. CSO's maintain contact with the desk staff during their foot patrols inside the residence halls and surrounding parking lots.
Each resident is issued a key or keycard for his or her room. When a key is lost, a new lock with a new key will be provided. All residence halls window have locks, with security access screens on lower floor windows. Residence halls have fire safety features including smoke detectors, alarmed fire-exit doors, fire extinguishers, and automated exit doors.
