Portland Community College investigates fraud scheme targeting international student.
The Portland Community College Department of Public Safety is investigating a potential fraud scheme involving an international student from Tajikistan. The student received an email from someone posing as a Portland Community College Advisor. The student was instructed to send money for housing and a bus pass to a PayPal Account.
The University Police Department reminds everyone not to conduct business or money transactions over the internet unless you KNOW who you are dealing with.
Please report any type of fraud, or any other crime on campus, to the University Police at 472-2222. 'Dial 2 for blue'
